|

Manchester United Women beat Sunderland AFC Ladies 2-1 as Marc Skinner’s side are into the last 16 of the FA Cup.

United created a lot of chances in the first half with Rachel Williams going close to opening the scoring from a brilliant run by Hannah Blundell.

Both Martha Thomas and Millie Turner went close to scoring but nothing seemed to be hitting the net until Nikita Parris opened the scoring in the 39th minute through a well-worked goal to put the Red Devils up by one going in at halftime.

Parris had another effort denied minutes later but Sunderland goalkeeper Claudia Moan carried on her heroics of keeping Sunderland in the game.

United dominated the ball in the second half again against the WSL 2 club, however, Abby Holmes scored for the home side in the 67th minute.

The Red Devils and Nikita Parris scored two minutes later as Marc Skinner’s side continued to keep possession of the ball and create chances.

New signing Estelle Cascarino had a great chance before the end of the game, however, her effort went over the bar.

Manchester United Women next face Everton at home in the WSL next Sunday with kick off scheduled to be at 12 o’clock.
