The first 30 minutes saw plenty of chances for United with Antony and Bruno Fernandes both going close to scoring, Marcus Rashford thought he had scored, when Wout Weghorst headed the ball across the goal to Rashford who headed the ball into the goal.

VAR intervened and determined Weghorst’s left leg was offside. Reading’s first chances of the game came a minute before halftime when Junior Hoilett forced David De Gea into action.
United broke the deadlock nine minutes into the game through Casemiro who chipped the ball over Joe Lumley into the Reading goal.
Four minutes later the Brazilian added a second goal with a first-time shot from outside of the box as he casually celebrated with his teammates putting the home side up by two.

Former Liverpool player Andy Carroll was sent off after he fouled Casemiro, Fred scored from a quick corner that Bruno Fernandes fed into United’s number 17.
Paul Ince’s side gave the away fans something to return to the Select Car Leasing Stadium with as substitute Amadou Salif Mbengue scoring for the Royals with 18 minutes to go.
Manchester United carry on their unbeaten record against Reading having never lost a game to them since 1927.
