United vs Palace date confirmed

|

The date for Manchester United under-18’s third round tie away to Crystal Palace has been confirmed and United will begin their defence of the FA Youth Cup on Sunday 11th December.

United, who won the competition last year for a record 11th time [manutd.com] and are hoping to repeat their triumph by starting off their campaign with a win over Palace at Selhurst Park after the two sides were drawn against each other last month. The game will kick off at 3pm UK time.

The trip to Palace will be Unitedโ€™s first since that glorious night in Manchester back in May when the youth team beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 to win a record 11th FA Youth Cup.

In front of aย record crowdย for an FA Youth Cup final, United defeated Forest at Old Trafford thanks to goals from captain Rhys Bennett and Alejandro Garnacho, who scored twice that night.

As a result of the under-18s playing Palace on Sunday, it now means that the Saturday’s under-18 Premier League clash against Everton at home has been postponed and a new date has been given.

The game against the Toffees will now take place on Saturday 11th March at Carrington.

The game against the South London side must be on Sunday 11th December, so if the tie cannot be settled after 90 minutes, then there will be extra-time and penalties if necessary.

The game against Palace at this level is a reunion of the clash in 1992 when the famous Class of 92 team defeated Crystal Palace over two legs to win the FA Youth Cup.
