Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Netherlands striker Wout Weghorst on loan until the end of the season.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that United could bring the forward to Old Trafford with there being an option to buy from his parent club Burnley in his contract, which is worth 10 million Euros.

With Weghorst giving the “green light” for Manchester United to pursue signing him on loan, another Dutch player could be arriving in Manchester soon.

It is understood by the Athletic however that if United were to sign the goliath striker they would have to have permission from the club he is currently on loan at which is Besiktas, as Burnley would have to negotiate with the Turkish side.

United manager Erik Ten Hag is also meant to be a fan of Weghorst, with him being the same nationality as Ten Hag you would presume that the United boss would have looked at the six-foot-six striker as an option to solve United’s problem of a backup striker after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Al Nassr.

Weghorst has been inform this season with him playing 16 games and scored eight goals in the Super Lig this season.[Transfermarkt]

He also played for the Netherlands national team at the World Cup in Qatar last month featuring four times off the bench in the five games Louis van Gaal’s side played.

Famously scoring in the Quarter Finals where the Netherlands were knocked out by the eventual winners Argentina, Weghorst scored in the last minute of extra to send the game to penalties.
