Varane Injury Update

|

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has given an update to United fans via social media. His injury happened against Chelsea in the 1-1 draw away at Stamford Bridge on the 22nd of October.

The Frenchman got injured in the second half against the blues, he stretched and went onto one knee whilst trying to stop the oncoming Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, he ended up realising himself and diving into the air as his leg couldn’t cope with the strain he had got by trying to make the challenge.

As he ended up on the floor and the game was eventually stopped the Manchester United medical team of Dr Steve McNally and co-ran onto the pitch to help Varane it seemed like he had suffered a really bad injury especially when he managed to get on his feet but was crying because his chances of playing from France in the Qatar World Cup could have disappeared.

The injury Varane picked up was a suspected lesion on his femoral biceps in the thigh muscle which is located in the leg. This is common for professional athletes and normally takes six weeks to recover but the money and great facilities United have it means the recovery time is shorter.

After being replaced by Swedish international Victor Lindelof and United going on to get a point out of the game many fans were still thinking about how much of an impact this will have on United’s defense for the rest of the season because of how bad it looked and the fact that this is one of the best defenses since Sir Alex Ferguson left.

With Dalot, Varane, Martinez and Shaw/Malacia keeping nine clean sheets from 17 games in all competitions. The former Real Madrid player is meant to be out of the team with his injury for three to four weeks, this means he should be back before the World Cup but may not play for United in that period.

He did give an Instagram update to the United fans which has brought a sense of calmness as he is a vital part of this new United squad.
