United man injury update

|

Christian Eriksen was seen leaving Old Trafford on crutches following a dangerous challenge that he received from Reading striker Andy Carroll.

Manchester United beat Reading 3-1 last night, thanks to a brace from Casemiro and a flick from Fred, however, Eriksen’s injury concern put a dampener on the result.

Eriksen was substituted in the 52nd minute for Fred, however, the challenge from Carroll seems to have done damage to the Dane, which United will be hoping is not serious because the Reds are not blessed with an arry of options in midfield, with Donny van de Beek out for the rest of the season.

Erik ten Hag was asked about the latest on the Denmark international, however, the Dutchman says that he could not provide a full update on the extent of the injury. Nevertheless, the United manager could provide an update on the United number 14’s injury when he speaks to the media ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford and thad pre-match press conference is likely to be on Tuesday.

“It’s always difficult to say in this moment so short after the game has finished,” said the manager, during his post-match press conference.

“But it’s an ankle [problem]. We have to see what is the diagnosis, so it costs us a minimum of 24 hours before we know that and then I can say more” [via Man Utd].
