United loanee picks up another award

|

Amad Diallo has won another award as he has won the EFL Young Player of the Month prize for the month of December, to go with the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award that he won last week [Vital United].

The award caps off an excellent month for the United loanee, where he scored three goals for Tony Mowbray’s side in the final month of the calendar as he netted against Millwall, West Brom and Wigan Athletic.

His strike against Wigan at the DW Stadium in a 4-1 win for Sunderland was arguably his best and you can watch the goal below from every angle.

Amad said that winning the award “means a lot to me” as he spoke to the EFL website after receiving the gong.

The on-loan Sunderland man said: “Winning this award means a lot to me because I always try to give my best on the pitch,” he explained. “This type of recognition gives me great confidence to keep improving, but I also have to thank my team-mates as they help me a lot” [EFL].

The Ivorian has taken his December form into January because he scored in Sunderland’s most recent fixture against Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough in a 2-0 win for the Black Cats and that goal against Boro took his tally to 7 goals this season [Transfermarkt].

Amad and his Sunderland team-mates are next in action in the FA Cup against Premier League side Fulham at Craven Cottage, which kicks off at 3pm tomorrow afternoon. Amad’s next Championship game is against Millwall away from home and it is an important game for the Black Cats as just one point separates Millwall in 8th and Sunderland in 9th.

Hopefully Amad can continue to perform throughout the rest of the season and then once he returns to United, hopefully he can take his form and learnings to Old Trafford.
