United loanee named PFA Fans’ Player of the Month

Manchester United winger Amad, who is currently on-loan at EFL Championship side, Sunderland has won the Black Cats PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for December.

Amad, scored three goals for Tony Mowbray’s side in the final month of the calendar as he netted against Millwall, West Brom and Wigan Athletic, which has propelled Sunderland into the promotion mix, even though they are 10th in the table, the Championship is such a congested league with Sunderland just three points behind West Brom in 6th [EFL].

It was not just in December that Ivorian performed in because he has been performing all season as he has scored six goals in the Championship this season [Transfermarkt], with his last goal coming in a 4-1 win against Wigan in Sunderland’s final game of 2022.

The United loanee is not just scoring goals, he is also contributing to the team’s overall play as he recored two assists, including a brilliant assist to play in Ellis Simms during Sunderland’s 2-1 win over Birmingham back in October, and more recently, he grabbed an assist to set up the winning goal for Luke O’Nien during Sunderland’s FA Cup clash against Shrewsbury Town in the third round.

Upon winning the award, he was asked about his favourite moment from the 2022/23 season.

“I don’t have a favourite moment, maybe I’ll wait until the end of the season to give you that answer” [via Man Utd]. However, he said that Marcus Rashford was the best player that he has played with in his career so far [via Man Utd].

Amad will be hoping to continue his good form when he and his Sunderland team-mates face Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough in the North East derby. Both Amad and Carrick know each other from their time at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
