Ekrem Konur: United ‘monitoring’ 44 cap international defender

|

Napoli defender Kim Min Jae is being monitored by Juventus and Premier League clubs Brighton, Fulham, Manchester United and Spurs, however the Partenopei won’t let him leave in the January transfer window.

He has made an impressive start in his first season at Napoli being a part of that 17-game  unbeaten run which was ended by Liverpool in the Champions League at the start of November.

Where would he fit into the United squad?

With Varane seeming to form a relationship with Lisandro Martinez it would be very hard for Kim Min Jae to come straight into one of the centre-half positions because of how good Martinez and Varane have been this season.

The South Korean might not be happy to sit on the bench because he has been involved in the clubs starting 11 that he has been with before Fenerbahçe and currently Napoli.

Nevertheless, if Varane or Martinez hit a bad patch of form it would be Min Jae who would come in ahead of Lindelof and Maguire if he fits in right with Ten Hag’s system which should not be a problem.

It should not be a problem because the type of football he is playing under Luciano Spalletti is very similar to Ten Hag’s style especially the high-intensity football by pressing high and playing out from the back.

The only big change for the defender would be the adaptation to the Premier League, with how much quicker and more physical the game is in England compared to the leagues in China, Turkey and Italy.

The atmosphere of going to tough and hostile grounds will also not be a problem for him with him playing in the cauldron of the Diego Armando Maradona stadium and Şükrü Saracoğlu at Fenerbahçe.
