It Is A Case Of It Is Now Or Next Season When It Comes To Manchester United Signing This Defender

|

Last month, here at Vital Manchester United, we reported on how the club looked to be close to signing the Porto left-back, Alex Telles.

Our article went under the encouraging headline of – manchester-uniteds-next-signing-could-come-very-soon – but here we are, almost two weeks later, waiting for any official news that a deal may have been done.

So, what is the hold-up down to?

It is that old chestnut about not being able to agree on a mutually acceptable transfer fee, a problem that has plagued us all through this window.

Today though, news has filtered through that Manchester United are approaching a crossroads when it comes to this deal.

Lurking in the pages of The Telegraph, is the insinuation that a deal will not be done before the transfer window shuts on Monday unless Manchester United match Porto’s £18 million valuation of the 27-year-old.

If that does not prove to be the case, we will not see Telles in a Manchester United shirt this summer.

But our referenced source also points out that all may not be lost.

Telles is in the last year of his contract and is unlikely to sign an extension. With that being the case then there is every chance that, come 01-January-2021, Telles will sign a pre-contract agreement to become a Manchester United player for the 2021/2022 season.

I am sure I am not alone when I suggest I would rather the deal be done this weekend so that Telles becomes a Manchester United player this season and can compete with Luke Shaw for a place in the starting eleven.
