Bruno starts for Portugal tonight

|

Bruno Fernandes starts for Portugal in their Group H clash with Uruguay at the Lusail Stadium, which will kick off at 7pm UK time this evening.

This is an important game for Fernandes and Portugal because if they win tonight, then they will book their place in the Round of 16, having already beaten Ghana.

Portugal will need their creative midfielder to be at his best tonight if they are to get the victory they need to qualify because he underlined his importance to the Portuguese by setting up his team-mates twice in the 3-2 win over Ghana.

Have a look at this article that was done on Vital United to see how Bruno, winning his 50th cap for Portugal, took apart the Black Stars with his passing and vision for his team-mates to score.

Even though Bruno starts for Portugal, his United team-mate Diogo Dalot is again on the bench, as was the case against Ghana last Thursday.

Facundo Pellistri, who made his World Cup debut in Uruguay’s last outing has to settle for a place on the bench for the South Americans tonight, who know that getting a result tonight is paramount to their chances of qualifying to the next stage.

The earlier game in Group H was between South Korea and Ghana and what an epic encounter it was. The game finished 3-2 to the Black Stars, however South Korea gave a good account of themselves as they came back from 2-0 down to equalise but they were undone by a goal from Mohammed Kudus who scored a brace and scored the winning goal in the 68th minute.
