Day 10 of the World Cup saw two Manchester United players get on the scoresheet for their respective nations.
The two United players to score were Casemiro and Bruno Fernnades, which helped their nations win their games and subsequently qualify for the knockout stages of the World Cup.
Casemiro and Fred both started the game against Switzerland but they were made to work hard for their victory because of how well compact and organised Switzerland were from a defensive point of view but Murat Yakin’s side did not offer much of an attacking threat, registering zero shots on target.
Even though Brazil had a goal from Vinicius Jr ruled out for offside, they had to wait until the 83rd minute to score and what a strike it was from Man United’s Casemiro into the far corner to give his side the lead.

The goal from Casemiro now means that it is back-to-back wins for the five-time World champions and they have now guaranteed their spot as group winners.
Fred came off in the 58th minute to be replaced by Newcastle’s Bruno Guimares. Antony also managed to get on the pitch as he came on in the 73rd minute as Brazil searched for a winner.
Bruno Fernandes also got himself on the scoresheet as he struck twice to help Portugal beat Uruguay 2-0 on Monday night at the Lusail Stadium.
The United man was awarded the first goal from FIFA, after many in the ground and those watching on TV thought that he crossed the ball to former Red, Cristiano Ronaldo, who it looked like headed home, but those who critically analyse goals like that, FIFA’s panel, felt that Ronaldo did not get a touch, meaning that Bruno Fernandes was awarded the goal.

Ronaldo might in the coming days be awarded the goal as he was convinced that it was his goal that saw him momentarily become Portugal’s record World Cup goalscorer before the goal was handed to Fernandes minutes later.

The Portuguese Federation are going to present evidence to FIFA to prove that the first goal against Uruguay was Cristiano Ronaldo’s not Bruno Fernandes’. #MUFC @elchiringuitotv 🔴

Nevertheless, there was no doubting Fernandes’ second goal as he cooly in his trademark hop and jump style converted his penalty to give Portugal the 2-0 win and ensured their passage to the next round was secure.

Diogo Dalot was again an unused substitute as manager Fernando Santos’ opted for Joao Cancelo instead.
Both Casemiro and Fernandes were awarded the Player of the Match awards for their excellent performances.
