|

Manchester United women’s striker Alessia Russo has won the PFA Vertu Motors Fans player of the month for November.

The Lioness was nominated apace with Chelsea forwards Sam Kerr and Lauren James, Manchester City striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, fellow Lioness player Rachel Daly from Aston Villa and Brighton’s Danielle Carter.

Russo has also been awarded the Manchester United women’s player of the for November, with the highlights of the month being when she scored two goals in two games with the late winning goal against Arsenal at the Emirates being the most important goal as 40,000 fans watched.

Another critical goal in the month was when Marc Skinner’s side played Chelsea at the start of November and unfortunately suffered a 3-1 loss, however, Russo did score the only goal for the Red Devils.

The last two Women’s Super League games have also been vital for the United number 23, even though it was in December it shows that she is trying to prolong her current great form.

Scoring against Aston Villa as Skinner’s team put five past Carla Ward’s side and proving very effective in the high press against Manchester City two weeks ago.

It shows that Russo’s journey of her being one of the top strikers in England is still rising and this has been noticed by big teams in Europe wanting her signature.

Eight-time Champions League winners Olympique Lyonnais and Spanish team Real Madrid are both interested in the 23-year-old.

If she was to move the right time in Skinner’s eyes would be to go after the season has finished to give United more of a chance of getting a Champions League space next season.
