Who United could get in the draw – Part 2

|

Vital United provided a list of the teams that Manchester United could face in the fifth-round of the FA Cup, as well as detailing how they got on in the fourth round in Part 1 and here are other teams that United could be drawn against.

Due to there being 16 teams, we thought that it would be beneficial to split it into two articles, so Part 1 of who United could face in the draw can be seen here.

Blackburn or Birmingham – Birmingham scored in the 91st minute at Ewood Park to seal a fourth-round replay as it looked like Blackburn had done enough to advance to the fifth-round. United could face Championship opposition should they be drawn against either of those teams.

Derby County or West Ham – This game takes place tonight at Pride Park and it kicks off at 8pm UK time. This will not be an easy game for the Hammers as Derby are in good form, winning their last six games. If Derby do win and draw United at home, then it will be a rematch of the fixture just before Covid in March 2020, when United went to Pride Park and won 3-0 in the fifth-round.

Ipswich or Burnley – United could face former coach Kieran McKenna in the fifth-round should his Ipswich team beat Burnley in their fourth-round replay at Turf Moor as the two sides played a 0-0 draw at Portman Road.

Leeds United – Leeds beat Accrington 3-1 at the Wham Stadium and if United are drawn against Leeds, then ten Hag’s side will face the Whites three times between February and March.

Leicester – Brendan Rodgers’ side reached the fifth-round of the FA Cup as they beat Walsall 1-0, thanks to a Kelechi Iheanacho goal in the 68th minute. If United do get Leicester in the fifth-round, then they will be looking to get revenge on their FA Cup defeat to Leicester back in 2021, where they lost 3-1 to the Foxes in the quarter-finals nearly two years ago.

Luton Town or Grimsby – Luton and Grimsby both played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Kenilworth Road, so a replay will be needed to see which team will qualify for the Last 16.

Sheffield Wednesday or Fleetwood – In what was an all-League One affair at Hillsborough, neither team could be separated as the game ended 1-1, which means that like a host of other fourth-round ties, the game will need to be decided by a replay to determine which team reaches the fifth-round.

The fifth-round games will take place on a midweek and in order to avoid fixture congestion, there will be no replays after the fourth-round of the FA Cup.
