“We need a really good performance” United manager on Arsenal

|

Erik ten Hag is under no illusions as to how difficult the challenge that awaits Manchester United as they travel to the Emirates Stadium to take on league leaders Arsenal on Sunday.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the United manager says that it is up to United to stop Arsenal’s winning run that has seen them 10 of their last 12 games since their defeat to United at Old Trafford back in September.

The Dutchman says that he has been impressed by Mikel Arteta’s side this season as he praised the mentality and winning attitude of the Gunners.

“It’s obvious they are in a really good run, I think they deserve the position where they are now. It’s a really good structure, there’s a really good mentality, winning attitude in the team, and that’s why they are now top of the league. They are in a great run but it is up to us to beat that run and we will do everything to do that” [via Man Utd].

Ten Hag says that United, who are unbeaten in 10 games in all competitions, will have to put in a strong performance to beat the league leaders at the Emirates.

“We know what to do and we have to be really good, we need a really good performance. If we do, I think we have a good chance to get a good result” [via Man Utd].

The Man United manager said that he could not give an availability update on Diogo Dalot or Anthony Martial, which is understandable because this press conference was conducted on Wednesday, in the immediate aftermath of United’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

“No, sorry. It’s Wednesday. We’ll have to see how far they are, if they are fit for the game on Sunday” [via Man Utd]

The game between Arsenal and United kicks off at 4.30pm UK time and for those in the UK, the game will be shown live on Sky Sports in what is a hugely significant game for both sides.
