United vs Leeds date confirmed

|

Manchester United’s game with Leeds United will now be played on Wednesday 8th of February 2023, which was the provisional date that was announced last week [Vital United].

This is because both side’s advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup after their victories yesterday in the fourth round. Leeds beat Accrington Stanley 3-1 at the Wham Stadium, whilst United beat Reading 3-1 at Old Trafford last night, which means that neither side needs a fourth round replay in the Emirates FA Cup.

The fixture against Leeds was postponed back in September because the Greater Manchester Police were required to help out with preparations for the Queen’s funeral and as a result there were concerns that there would not be many police resources for the game at Old Trafford between the two rivals, which would have been required for a game of this size [Man Utd].

With the game against Leeds United on Wednesday 8th of February, it now means that United will play three consecutive home games at Old Trafford because they face Nottingham Forest in the second leg of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and then Erik ten Hag’s side take on Crystal Palace at the Theatre of Dreams next Saturday.

United will also play the White on back-to-back occasions in the Premier League because after the game at Old Trafford against Jesse March’s side, United will then travel to Elland Road on Sunday 12th of February.

Manchester United have happy memories os playing against Leeds because United beat their rivals 5-1 in the first Premier League of the 2021/22 season, and the Old Trafford outfit beat Whites last season by winning 4-2 at Elland Road to do the double, and United will be hoping for another double over the team from Yorkshire this season.
