There’s a whiff of the inevitability of failure in the air this morning.
A while ago, here at Vital Manchester United, we ran a couple of articles relating to the club looking to bring one of the big-name strikers, in the Premier League to the club, namely, Harry Kane.
Our articles, firstly – manchester-united-linked-with-capture-of-top-class-goal-scorer and secondly – manchester-united-set-for-disappointment-in-chase-for-this-top-name-striker – highlighted Manchester United’s initial interest and, subsequently, how that interest wasn’t looking as if it would pay dividends.
Today, a fresh assumption has appeared, courtesy of The Metro that the Old Trafford hierarchy have all but given up on bringing the England captain to Old Trafford.
Indeed, our referenced source is championing the inference that Kane, who is expected to cost anywhere between £150 million to £200 million is destined, if a sale can be agreed, for either Real Madrid or Manchester City.
Now I can accept Real Madrid but Manchester City!
It wasn’t long ago they were considered to be our noisy near-neighbours, my how times have changed.

I would not pay £150m, never mind £200m for Harry Kane at this moment. He has some injury problems going on and paying that much for 1 player is something I would do only when he is the final piece of the puzzle. However Man utd still need 4 or 5 players for us to have a balanced squad with 2 quality players per position.
I’ve always been amazed he’s got where he is, let alone worth (supposedly) that amount of money.
