United put off by loan move for Atletico Madrid Player

Manchester United do not want Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix on a loan deal.

Joao Felix is up for sale in the upcoming January transfer window with big clubs around Europe interested in the youngster, however United do not feel a loan offer for the Portuguese international would suit their needs.

Football journalist Mike McGrath has said, “Joao Felix is available in January but it is thought the terms of a loan could put off Manchester United.”

Other reports suggest otherwise with some saying that Felix has always wanted to play in the Premier League, nevertheless, these reports might not be true in the way that he might want a move to the Premier League but in no report has it confirmed he wants an imminent move to England.

The 23-year-old has had an underwhelming start to his career after leaving Benfica with many pundits suggesting that he has underperformed when compared to Cristiano Ronaldo it is always going to be hard to try and reach his standards.

When he signed for Atletico Madrid four seasons ago for a record-breaking fee for a player his age £113 million, the expectation was so high that he had to hit the ground running but he did not scoring only six goals in 27 games in La Liga.[transfermarkt]

Many Atletico fans were disappointed because of the price tag and him not providing much to the team but it seems like this season and last season he has managed to get to grips with Diego Simeone’s style of football, previously playing attacking football at Benfica so the transition was hard for the number seven.

If United were to get Joao Felix it would be interesting to see what position he would play and if he would even start under Erik Ten Hag.
