United manager provides update on Sancho

|

Erik ten Hag spoke to the media ahead of Manchester United’s FA Cup fourth-round clash with Reading tomorrow night at Old Trafford and he said that Jadon Sancho could be involved.

Sancho has not featured for United since the 1-1 draw with Chelsea back in October and he was not part of the training camp that went to Spain during the World Cup, instead he was working on an individual training programme that was agreed upon by the manager and the player, with the main purpose of the programme to get the England international in to a good condition both mentally and physically.

After successfully completing his individual training programme, the United number 25 has been back at Carrington in the last week or so working with the rest of the first team squad, which promoted the media to ask whether or not he would be involved in the FA Cup match against the Royals on Saturday evening.

The United manager offered hope that Sancho might feature against the Championship side as United look to advance in to the fifth round of the FA Cup, however, the Dutchman did say that he will be observed closely, because it is understandable that United do not want to rush him back.

Ten Hag said: “He is training with the team and we will see,” Ten Hag added. ”He is improving, he is making steps, we will make the decision after the training.

“He’s on the way back, he’s making steps, so he’s back in team training and now we have to see when he is ready to go back into the games” [via Man Utd].

The game between United and Reading gets underway at 8pm UK time, and for those who are in the UK, the match will be shown live on ITV Sport.
