Why Sancho be involved against Reading – Opinion

|

I think Erik ten Hag should consider involving Jadon Sancho for the game against Reading in the FA Cup tomorrow night at Old Trafford.

However, I would personally not start Sancho because I want his reintegration into the first team squad to be as smooth as possible, so therefore, with that in mind, I would give Sancho the last 30 minutes of the game against the Royals, which will be good for his confidence as Sancho is a player who needs confidence to be able to flourish.

In many ways and this is no disrespect to Reading, who are going well in the Championship, I think this game would be the best opportunity to give the England international minutes because he will be able to play with more freedom as opposed to if it was a Premier League game. Notwithstanding, this game against Reading is an important one in United’s quest to reach the fifth round and continue their quest for silverware at the end of the season, which should give Sancho extra motivation because he can play a key role in helping United qualify for the next round.

The United number 25, who has not featured for United since the 1-1 draw against Chelsea back in October, was pictured training at Carrington and he looked focused and in good spirits as he continues to make good progress.

If Sancho was to make the bench for the game against the Royals, then it will put a huge smile on the faces of the Man United fans, because we are all desperate for Sancho to return to the levels that he showed at the start of the season, where he scored against Liverpool and Leicester, and one thing that Sancho will know is that he has got the United fans on his side, who will support the former Borussia Dortmund man through thick and thin.

United take on Reading at Old Trafford tomorrow night which gets underway at 8pm UK time, and for those in the UK, the game will be shown live on ITV Sport.
