United interested in Borussia Dortmund player

|

Manchester United are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko.

United are apparently monitoring the German international, however other clubs in England such as Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in signing the young talent.

Who is Youssfoufa Moukoko?

Born in Cameroon where he spent the first 10 years of his life, living with his grandparents, he moved to Germany in 2014 to be with his father in Hamburg.

He started playing his football at Bundesliga 2 side St Pauli, where he scored 23 goals in only 13 games, his best scoring figures came in at youth level where he scored 127 goals and assisted 26 goals in an outstanding 84 appearances.

Another record to add to his CV is when he became the youngest-ever  Bundesliga goal scorer against Union Berlin in 2019. He also became the youngest player to score in the Champions League aged 16 years and 19 days.

Most recently the CaCameroon-bornlayer has been involved in the starting 11 at Dortmund, which earnt him a place in the 2022 World Cup squad with Germany.

Where he featured in the opening group game loss against Japan in the second half, replacing Chelsea’s Kai Havertz.

Erling Haaland had high praise for the player when the Norwegian was at Dortmund when he said “Moukoko’s much better than I was at his age. I’ve never seen such a good 15-year-old in my life. The advantage for him is that he’s already playing for Dortmund at the age of 15. At his age, I was still playing for my home town of Bryne.” [Bundesliga]

Where does he fit in at Manchester United?

Youssfoufa Moukoko would definitely not be on the bench at United or any club because of his quality and him understanding his worth of where he thinks he should be playing in most games, even though some may disagree because of how young he is, however, he has still got a very high profile of the games and tournaments he has been involved in.

He would probably be played at striker under Erik Ten Hag because of the fluidity he opposes upfront and his pressing and finishing ability will be one of the biggest attributes United will need to be a success in the future.

Also being able to play across all three forward positions helps Ten Hag, especially tactically if he wants to dispose Moukoko on a weaker fullback so he can use his pace in behind or in a one-on-one situation.
