United in for Right Back to Challenge Dalot

|

Over the past couple of weeks, it has come clear how much Diogo Dalot has improved at Manchester United by having the third most minutes this season out of all the United players with 1,075 minutes, with only De Gea and Bruno Fernandes having more minutes.

Although he feels like he has cemented that right-back position his own, Ten Hag and the club have a different angle on the position by getting a backup right-back to give Dalot competition, much like how Ten Hag has done with Malacia and Shaw.

With the outgoing of Wan Bissaka looking inventible and Ethan Laird not getting a look in, this seems to be the time United should invest in a right back.

So which player are John Murtough and Richard Arnold looking at?

The most linked player to rival the Portuguese is Jeremie Frimpong who plays for German club Bayer Leverkusen, he came through Manchester City’s academy and then later moved to Celtic, the Dutch link would be the clear reason why Ten Hag would want him.

However, the way Frimpong plays seems to catch the United’s bosses’ eye, with his amazing technical qualities by having a low centre of gravity means he can get past the players quicker and look either for the pass forwards or to use his blistering pace down the right wing.

As good as he is going forward he can defend very well, the only downside to his game is his aerial duels which he only has a 30.8% success rate.

As much as that is a bad stat to look at the way in which he defends by constantly tracking back, making important tackles and not going to ground too easily, does weigh out the negative of his battles won in the air.
