Yesterday was a monumental day in the history of Manchester United.
The sacking of Jose Mourinho, it is hoped, will signal the start of a golden era, although commencement of that era may be put on hold until a permanent managerial appointment is made ahead of the 2019 / 2020 season.
In the meantime, there are some interesting facts emerging relating to the last days of the reign of Mourinho.
It appears, according to the news source, the Guardian, that Mourinho’s reluctance to buy a residence in the Manchester area, with the Special One insisting on staying in the Lowry Hotel, saw the hotel receive £537,000 for renting a room.
Now whether Mourinho or the club paid for that is, at the moment, unclear.
Continuing, the good folk of the news source, the Independent, have come up with an interesting statistic.
They’re championing the suggestion that as many as 90% of the Manchester United players were against him and they also throw into the mixer that some of those who did like Mourinho were of the opinion it was time for a change. If true, that is an incredible statistic and also hints at how bad the atmosphere must have been within the club.
Hopefully, the new era will be like a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford and the wind of change will blow away all those ills.
