Previous meetings between United and Palace

|

Erik ten Hag will come up against Crystal Palace for the first time in the Premier League when his Manchester United side take on the Eagles at Selhurst Park, however, both United and Palace have met regularly in the league down the years.

Incidentally, the Dutchman, came up against the Eagles during the club’s pre-season tour of Australia and it was United who ran out 3-1 winners back in July, and the United manager will be hoping for the same outcome tomorrow night in what is a hugely significant game for the Reds.

However, United lost their last game at Selhurst Park 1-0 back in May 2022 under Ralf Rangnick in what was a torrid season for the club. Despite, losing their last meeting with the South London outfit, United do have a good record in the league against Palace, as since their return to the Premier League back in 2013, United have won 13 out of the 18 games that they have played against each other [11 v 11].

United’s previous win against the Selhurst Park outfit was Ralf Rangnick’s first game in charge, where Fred scored the only goal of the game to hand United a 1-0 win at Old Trafford over Patrick Vieria’s side, and perhaps their most special win against the Eagles was back in March 2018, when a stoppage-time winner from Nemanja Matic secured a 3-2 win for United, who earlier in the night were losing 2-0 to Palace at Selhurst Park [Facebook].

Even though, United have a good record against Palace, it could be argued that they are United’s bogey team because in the last six meetings against the sides, the London club have won three times, including twice at Old Trafford, so therefore, the players will need to be aware of the task at hand and not underestimate the challenge.

The next meeting between Palace and United gets underway at 8pm UK time tomorrow evening.
