How Palace fared since the World Cup

|

Crystal Palace come into their game against Manchester United at Selhurst Park, having lost three of their last four games since the resumption of the Premier League season.

Palace’s last game was against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and it could be argued that they were unfortunate not to come away with anything as they had decent chances to score but the Eagles were denied by Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Chelsea goal, who pulled off some good saves. Palace lost the game against the West London side 1-0, who scored through Kai Havertz in the 64th minute of the game to resign Patrick Viera’s side to their third defeat in four games.

Despite playing extremely well in the first-half against Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park in what was their third game back since the World Cup, Palace were on the wrong side of the result as Antonio Conte’s side ran riot in the second-half to secure a 4-0 win, thanks to a double from Harry Kane and a goal apiece from Matt Doherty and Hueng-min Son.

Before the meeting against Spurs, Palace recorded their first win since the restart as they beat Bournemouth 2-0 on New Year’s Eve in what was a much needed victory for the South London outfit. Eberechi Eze and Jordan Ayew both got on the scoresheet at the Vitality Stadium to secure all three points.

The Londoners first game back following the World Cup finals, did not go to plan as everything that possibly could go wrong, went wrong that afternoon as they had two players sent off against Fulham, and the Cottagers ran out 3-0 winners in what was a extremely difficult day at the office for Viera’s side, who failed to register a single shot on target [Premier League].

Palace’s next outing is against Man United, which kicks off tomorrow evening at 8pm UK time at Selhurst Park under the lights.
