Manchester United’s Magnificent Sporting Gesture

|

Somewhere down the line, although I’m not sure when I fully expect Dean Henderson to replace David de Gea between the posts.

Henderson, 23-years-of-age, has spent the last two seasons on loan at Sheffield United and has impressed immensely with a string of fine performances.

However, with the 2019 / 2020 season halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, something of a predicament has arisen.

Henderson’s loan spell is set to end in June after which he is scheduled to return to Old Trafford.

But Sheffield United would like to keep Henderson until, at least, the end of the season.

Matters are further complicated by the fact that newly promoted Sheffield United are vying, with Manchester United, for the European spots available next season.

But, in what is a great sporting gesture and as reported by The Telegraph it is looking exceedingly like Manchester United will grant an extension to Henderson’s loan spell that will allow him to complete the season with the Yorkshire club.

Here at Vital Manchester United, while we applaud the clubs’ generosity, we hope it doesn’t backfire with Sheffield United finishing above us in the Premier league table.
