Now who would have thought we would be in the position we are now as we prepare to welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford, for a Premier League fixture, this evening?
After a poor start to the 2020 / 2021 season, with Manchester United languishing in the bottom half of the table, a win tonight, against a much improved compared to last season Aston Villa side, will see Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side go joint top of the Premier League table with Liverpool.
Could we possibly surprise even ourselves and win the title?
It is an intriguing thought but let us take it one game at a time and see where that leads us.
Tonight, Manchester United will have to overcome an Aston Villa side who are becoming renowned for being stoic defensively.
The goal they conceded on Boxing Day, away to Chelsea, was the first they had conceded for 5 games and after escaping relegation, last season, Aston Villa now sit in 5th position in the Premier League table just 4 points behind Manchester United.
