Manchester United Given Huge EFL Cup Semi-Final Draw

|

The minute the final whistle sounded, at Goodison Park, did anyone else have that inevitable feeling?

With Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side having secured a place in the last four of the EFL Cup and now being just one step away from a Wembley Final, there was, with Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford and Manchester City also in the draw, a foreboding inevitability that Manchester United would draw the latter.

And that is exactly how it turned out!

However, in these pandemic driven times, there is something different about the draw this time around.

In what is a truncated, calendar wise, season, the semi-final ties will be over a single leg as opposed to the usual two legs.

Therefore, the fact that Manchester United were drawn out as the home side should, on the surface, be an advantage.

Or should it?

When you consider Manchester United’s home form this season, it would perhaps have been better to be drawn away, especially when you consider that we have won our last 13 away fixtures against English sides.

But I guess you cannot have it all ways.

Leicester City v Manchester United?

Leicester City to Win!

Manchester United to Win!

A Draw!
