One piece of transfer speculation that caught my eye yesterday, related to a player that many would not have linked with Manchester United.
Lurking in the pages of The Manchester Evening News, was the inference that Manchester United had been linked with a move for the versatile Arsenal defender, Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Maitland-Niles, 23-years-of-age, is an England international who is more than capable of playing in defence or midfield.
His versatility reminds me of the days when every great team has a player who could slot into any position and do a more than capable job, the name of Paul Madeley (Leeds United) is the name that instantly springs to mind.
However, it would seem, according to our aforementioned source that this piece of transfer tittle-tattle is misplaced with the club taking the opportunity to deny they have any interest in bringing Ainsley Maitland-Niles to Old Trafford.
