Loan Watch – Part 1

|

In Part One of the Loan Watch, this article will look at the United players who featured in the Championship and League Two this weekend.

Amad Diallo has continued to produce the goods for Sunderland as he scored and assisted one goal during Sunderland’s 2-1 win over Birmingham in the EFL Championship.

The United loanee was competing against his fellow United team-mate, Hannibal, who has been announced in Tunisia’s 26-man squad that will head to Qatar this week. This is a remarkable achievement for the youngster, who is enjoying a breakthrough at Birmingham under John Eustace and currently sit 13th in the Championship.

Lukas Jutkiewicz scored for Birmingham in the closing moments, but Sunderland held on for the win to secure all three points.

Queens Park Rangers’ difficult form continued as they were beaten 2-0 away at in-form Coventry and Ethan Laird played the full 90 minutes in this game. The defeat now leaves QPR seventh in the league going into the World Cup break.

Alvaro Fernandez’s Preston also suffered defeat in the Championship this weekend as they lost 4-2 to Millwall at Deepdale. Fernandez came on as a 67th minute substitute but could not help Preston get a result.

Ethan Galbraith featured for Salford City on Saturday during their 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon and the Northern Irishman played the full 90 minutes.

Like the Premier League, the EFL Championship will take a break for the World Cup, which will allow the United loan players and the club to reflect on their first three months.
