Manchester United academy graduate Hannibal Mejbri is the latest Red to be called up for the FIFA 2022 World Cup.

He is the 16th United player to be selected for his nation at the World Cup in Qatar.

Hannibal is currently enjoying a remarkable loan spell at Birmingham City as he has made 15 appearances and registered two assists in the Championship [Transfermarkt.com].

At the age of just 19, this tournament will be Hannibal’s third major senior tournament, which is a remarkable feat and shows how well he is thought of by his national team.

Hannibal, who has made three appearances for United, could represent Tunisia at the World Cup and play games in the group stages against Australia, Denmark and France.

It will certainly be a challenging group for Tunisia but they can draw upon experience from their last World Cup campaign where they narrowly lost to England 2-1 in Russia.

Hannibal, who was born near Paris, played for France’s youth teams but chose to represent the country of his parent’s birth and in June 2021, the Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year 2021 winner won his first cap for the African side in June 2021.

One tournament that the United academy graduate has featured in was the FIFA Arab Cup, which was played in December 2021 and Hannibal started in all five games as they reached final, but suffered defeat to Algeria.

The other tournament that the current Birmingham player on loan from United, played in was the African Cup of Nations and he made two appearances for Jalel Kadri’s side.
