“If you underestimate Craven Cottage and Fulham, you’re going to have a problem”. – Berbatov

In an exclusive interview with the official Manchester United website, former United striker, Dimitar Berbatov has sent United a message, saying that they must not underestimate Fulham.

This is a fair comment from the former United hero because Fulham are currently sitting 9th in the table and have only lost once at home all season, which shows just how difficult a place Craven Cottage has been for opposition teams to get a victory this season.

Given that the former United number 9 played for Fulham from 2012-2014, he knows just how difficult a game it can be for the away side at Craven Cottage, so United will have to be concentrated and focused at all times.

“From my time, I know that, if you’re not careful, if you underestimate Craven Cottage and Fulham, you’re going to have a problem,” said the United Premier League winner.

“Fulham is a good club. At the moment, I think they have great players actually, and they’re doing fine for the moment. I guess United are going to have a tough task on their hands, for sure.”

Fulham and their individual players such as Aleksander Mitrovic and ex-Red, Andreas Perira have impressed for the Cottagers this season and are a key reason as to why Fulham are doing well this season.

“Obviously, [Aleksandar] Mitrovic is the main guy who’s scoring the goals,” said Berba to [Man United].

“Andreas Pereira, we all know about him. Daniel James, as well, another ex-Red. So there is a quality in the team, and I’m not surprised, to be honest, that they’re doing fine at the moment. But we all know the Premier League is a long journey, so they need to be careful.”

However, despite encouraging United not to take Fulham lightly, the Bulgarian legend, is expecting United to just edge it 2-1 because he was encouraged by the attacking display that United put on during the 4-2 win over Aston Villa on Thursday night.

“I’d probably go for 2-1 to United,” explained Berbatov. “Because, as I said, if I need to give a fair judgement, coming from last night’s game against Villa, they scored two and we scored four.

The game against Berbatov’s two former clubs, United and Fulham, will be the final fixture of the Premier League before the league is put on hold for the World Cup. The game will be shown on Sky Sports and the game will kick-off at 4.30pm.
