|

Amad continued his excellent form to help Sunderland record a 2-0 victory over local rivals Middlesbrough in the EFL Championship as he scored the second goal of the game to help the Black Cats secure all three points.

Patrick Roberts picked out the United loanee just inside the Middlesbrough box, and the Ivorian cut inside onto his favoured left foot and he struck the ball past Zack Steffen in the Middlesbrough goal to seal the win for Tony Mowbray’s side.

In what was a pivotal game in the Championship, with both sides looking to give their play-off hopes a boost with a win, Amad showed that he can perform in a high pressure game as he put in a stellar display and helped seal the win for his side.

Amad performed extremely well during the game against Michael Carrick’s Boro as he was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant display as according to the Sky Sports Statto Twitter account, the former Atalanta man had 93 touches and made 73 passes, as well as recording three shots.

The Sunderland man on loan from United spoke to Sky Sports after the game, and he spoke about how much he is enjoying his football in the North East as he aims to help Sunderland secure promotion to the Premier League.

“Yeah, I missed a chance in the first half, but today was not an easy game,” he said, after an early one-on-one opportunity. “The important thing was the three points.
