“I think we totally dominated the game” United manager on Reading win

|

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said that United’s 3-1 victory over Reading was a dominant performance as his side booked their spot in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup.

A brace from Casemiro and Fred sealed the win for United in what was a commanding display, which pleased the United manager as he spoke to the media after the game.

He was pleased how United were trying to make things happen, with movements and”runs in behind” that created good openings for the Reds to take the lead at Old Trafford, which did eventually come via a brilliant run from Casemiro, who chipped the goalkeeper and Antony deserves a lot of credit for his pass into his team-mate.

“The first 60 minutes was a really good performance. I think we totally dominated the game, we were composed in possession, with good moments where we accelerated. In the first half we had some good opportunities, some chances and also a goal that is a goal – I don’t know why it was disallowed. Good runs behind them created a lot of opportunities, but also our transition from defence was really good. And there was only one moment before half-time where there was a lack of concentration. But before that, I think we created four, five, six really good chances where the only thing we missed was the finish. Then after half-time, very quickly it was 2-0” [via Man Utd].

Next up for ten Hag and his team is the Carabao Cup second leg against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, and United will be hoping to finish off the job and book their place at Wembley for the 2022/23 Carabao Cup final as they are already 3-0 up from the first leg.
