Old Trafford is now a “fortress” says manager

Manchester United’s 3-1 victory over Reading in the Emirates FA Cup made it 11 consecutive wins in a row at Old Trafford, and speaking after the game, Erik ten Hag said that the Theatre of Dreams is now a “fortress”.

With Old Trafford now being a fortress, this is a brilliant place for the players, manager, staff and fans to be in because once United step over that white line at Old Trafford, there is a sense of confidence that United will get a result, irrespective of the opponent and it allows the players the freedom to express themselves a lot more because there is a positive vibe in the stadium, even though the fans do want the current owners gone.

For years, United’s home form was patchy to say the least and inconsistent as United would drop points at home to those teams that you least expect, however, under ten Hag that has changed as he has made the players aware how important it is to win your  home games, and he is correct because it gives you an excellent chance of winning trophies and achieving your objectives in the league.

Speaking after the win over the Royals, the Dutchman said that the ground is now a fortress, however, in typical ten Hag style, he said that United’s focus should be the next game, which is against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Wednesday night as United look to confirm their spot in the 2022/23 Carabao Cup final at Wembley, with the Reds already 3-0 up from the first leg at the City Ground.

“This is a fortress. But there’s always the next game and the opponent will be motivated and we have to be aware of that. You have to make sure you are in the right focus and getting the right energy when you are starting the next game” [via Man Utd].
