Garnacho “honoured” to win Player of the Month award

Alejandro Garnacho has spoken to the official club website [Man Utd] after picking up his first Manchester United Player of the Month award.

Garnacho was crowned as the United Player of the Month after a number of stellar performances in the month of November, and he gave an interview to the official club website, revealing just how “honoured” he is to receive the gong.

“It’s an honour for me, being able to be named Player of the Month for this last month,” said Garnacho.

“It has been a fantastic one for me. I’m very happy now and the main thing is, apart from individual awards, to also win prizes as a group.”

The Argentine beat fellow United team-mates, David De Gea and Casemiro to win November’s prize.

Despite United only having four games in the month of November, it was still a special month for the Academy graduate as he shined.

Garnacho was handed his second Man United start in the 1-0 win over Real Sociedad and he repaid the manager’s faith as he scored the only goal of the game.

Garnacho was handed a start against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, but the team were not at their best as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Villa at Villa Park for the first time in 27 years in the Premier League.

Garnacho and United were desperate to ensure that the result in the league was forgotten about, which is what happened as United put on a 4 goal showing to defeat Villa 4-2 in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford and Garnacho played a key role in the win, setting up his team-mates twice.

Garnacho perhaps saved the best until the last as it was his injury-time winner away to Fulham in the dying moments that clinched all three points for United.

The 18-year-old, who scored twice in the FA Youth Cup final also had words of gratitude for the United supporters.

“Right from the moment I arrived here, all the fans have accepted me really well,” he smiled. “They have always got behind us, in the junior sides and now I’ve made it to here [the first team]. They’ve aways supported us at every moment.

“So I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me to win this award.”

We would like to congratulate Alejandro on his award and hope this is just the start!
