Christian Eriksen starts for Denmark as they take on Tunisia in their opening game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Eriksen is one of a few recognisable former or current Premier League, players starting for the Danish side today as Crystal Palace defender, Joachim Andersen, Spurs’ Pierre-Emerick-Hojbjerg and Kasper Schmeichel all start for Kasper Hjulmand’s side.

The Dane number 10 will be hoping to play a key role in helping his country advance to the next stage of the competition.

However, he and Denmark will have to be at their best today as they take on a Tunisia side, who are ranked 30th in the world rankings and took England all the way before suffering an agonising 2-1 loss at the last World Cup four years ago in Russia.

Eriksen has been in good form for United this season as he has recorded six assists in all competitions for the Reds, and his first goal of the season came in United’s final fixture before the World Cup, which was the opening goal in a dramatic 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Tunisia will also have a Manchester United representative in their team in Hannibal Mejbri, who is currently on loan at Birmingham.

Hannibal is on the bench for the African side for the clash against the Danes.

The United academy graduate is enjoying a positive spell at St Andrews, where he has made 15 appearances and registered two assists [Transfermarkt.com], and he will be hoping to showcase his talent on the global stage.

The game between Denmark and Tunisia will kick off at 1pm with the game shown on ITV.
