Fabrizio Romano says Gakpo is a “Serious Option” for United

|

According to GiveMeSport, Manchester United are now in contact with PSV and Cody Gakpo, as a 40 million pound fee looks to be the set price.

With the January transfer window just nine days away, the transfer rumours and news around Cody Gakpo to Manchester United continue. It has been stated that manager Erik Ten Hag has made the 23-year-old a key target in this upcoming window.

Journalist Dean Jones has said to GiveMeSport that United will make a bid of around 40 million pounds for the Dutchman when the window opens next month.

Jones is also confident that a deal can be made with Ten Hag knowing that he will be a great signing for the club.

The Departing of Cristiano Ronaldo also means the board and the manager have to get a striker in, with a lack of options in that upfront as only Anthony Martial can play there on a game-by-game basis.

Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano told GiveMeSport “At the moment, he’s a serious option. Manchester United are working on it, They are in contact with his agents.”

The Red Devils will have to move fast if they want to get Gakpo’s signature at Old Trafford because other top clubs in Europe such as Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the forward.

Former Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal said at the World Cup “Things can change but Cody has everything it takes to become a star.”[Daily Mirror]

In his post-match press conference after the 2-0 win against Burnley on Wednesday night, Ten Hag seemed happy when asked about Cody Gakpo.
