Fabrizio Romano Gives Update on Enzo Fernandez

|

Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Enzo Fernandez and how much it will take to lure him away from Benfica.

Romano said “The only way Benfica will sell Enzo Fernandez is to pay the release clause of 120 million Euros. They will not accept a penny less.”

Fernandez is a recent winner of the World Cup with fellow Argentinian Lisandro Martinez in Qatar two weeks ago. The Benfica man impressed in all seven games that led to the South American country winning the distinguished tournament.

He came off the bench in the first two games against Saudi Arabia and Mexico, then since the last game of the group where Fernandez and the team won 2-0, he started the rest of the games in the competition.

In his first season at Benfica since moving from River Plate in the summer, Fernandez is in the 99 percentile in progressive passes. [FBREF]

The move he made from Argentina to Portugal in the summer was in the region of 12 million pounds as he played just under 4,000 minutes for Los Millionarios.

Very much like the Cody Gakpo transfer that could happen at United, Fernandez is wanted by the  elite clubs in Europe with Real Madrid, PSG and Liverpool all being interested in the 21 year old.

Other journalists have also mentioned today that United are the only team that would be willing to pay the 120 million euros fee for the midfielder, which could mean that the Red Devils are frontrunners for the youngster with a week to go until the January transfer window opens.
