Eriksen In the Denmark Squad

The Denmark national team announced their 26-man squad that is going to the World Cup with one Manchester United player being included.

United midfielder Christian Eriksen has been selected for what will be his fourth World Cup in a row.

He has been vital to making United’s midfield better this season alongside Casemiro with him being in the 99 percentile of assists. [FBref]

In making United a better team Eriksen has been vital going forwards with him dictating play at his own pace, what he also does that the Red Devils have missed in a long time is pass between the lines with maybe Paul Scholes being the last United player who could do it.

That has also helped United be able to break teams down which they have struggled with over the past couple of seasons, with Omonia and West Ham being the prime examples of where he has been most effective.

When Erik Ten Hag’s side are in transition on the counter-attack the Dane connects the play by moving into a deep-lying playmaker position to either play the ball over the top for runs in behind or to link the play and pass the ball into a channel.

Eriksen makes United more dominant on the ball and quicker and more precise when playing out from the back.
