Erik ten Hag provides Martial update

Erik ten Hag has spoken to the club’s media ahead of Manchester United’s game with Everton on Friday night at Old Trafford and gave an update on the availability of Anthony Martial [Man Utd].

United come into this fixture in terrific form, having won last six games in all competitions and the Reds have also performed well at Old Trafford as they have their last seven games in all competitions at the Theatre of Dreams.

Donny van de Beek was substituted during the 3-0 win over Bournemouth and after the game against the Cherries, ten Hag said that United would have to wait 24 hours to find out the full extent of the injury but it remains to be seen how bad the injury is [Man Utd].

However, he provided an update on the latest on Anthony Martial, who was also substituted in the win over Bournemouth after he took one to the head as he attempted to head home from a Casemiro cross, but after the game against the Cherries, ten Hag said that the Frenchman is available for the game against Frank Lampard’s Everton.

“He’s available but it’s different,” Ten Hag told club media in his pre-match Q&A. “He came off but he didn’t play that much in the first half of the season so we have to bring him slowly back into 90 minutes.

“He can play 90 minutes but [if we’re playing him] in a row of games we have to protect him so he can have the strength, the power to deliver over 90 minutes, every third day” [via Man Utd].

Antony is back in training, having missed the game against the Cherries on Tuesday. Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez are both in contention to start the game against the Toffees on Friday.

The game between Everton and United will take place at Old Trafford, with kick-off at 8pm UK time.
