Yet More Talk Of Manchester United Investing Big Money To Bring In Yet Another Centre Back

|

Talk of Manchester United, once again, investing big bucks in bringing in a centre-back to partner Harry Maguire, has appeared in the media.

Once again though, it is too familiar names that get a mention.

The first, according to The Mirror, relates to the chase to bring the Benfica and Portugal international defender, Ruben Dias, to old Trafford.

Our quoted source suggests that Manchester United may be beaten to the 22-year-olds signature by none other than Manchester City with the insinuation being that our near-neighbours, to cure their own defensive frailties, could seal a deal for the defender as early as the January transfer window.

However, whilst that might be seen as something akin to bad news, another source, The Express, but in a different article, infers that Dias, although a player who interests Manchester United, isn’t the first choice to partner Maguire with it being implied that honour falls to the Napoli and Senegal international defender, Kalidou Koulibaly.

Now if that is the choice it gets a thumbs-up from me, but one thing bothers me.

Do we seriously stand a real chance of signing Koulibaly if or current run of poor form continues and we miss out on qualifying for the Champions League next season?
