Last night, at the Mestalla Stadium, Manchester United produced a lacklustre performance and deservedly slipped to a 2-1 defeat.
With a tricky Premier League away game, at Anfield, this weekend against Liverpool, the result and the performance will hardly have had a confidence-boosting effect.
More importantly, however, the defeat ensured that Manchester United did not claim the top spot in the group and had to be content with second place.
As a result, when the draw for the knockout stages is made, the teams that Manchester United could be drawn against makes formidable reading, with the list reading as thus:
• Borussia Dortmund
• Barcelona
• PSG
• Porto
• Bayern Munich
• Real Madrid
All six teams will provide Manchester United with a stern test but, if you had to pick one it’d surely be Porto.
But what are the chances of that happening?
Sods law infers that knowing the way these draws go, Manchester United will be drawn to face either of the Spanish giants, Real Madrid or Barcelona!
