United learn Carabao Cup semi-final opponents

Manchester United have been drawn against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

In the semi-final stage of the Carabao Cup, United will play in a two-legged contest to determine which team reaches the Wembley showpiece final that will take place on the 26th February 2023.

Nottingham Forest will be at home in the first leg against United, with the second leg taking place at Old Trafford.

United booked their spot in the last four of the Carabao Cup after Erik ten Hag’s side beat Charlton Athletic 3-1, thanks to a first half strike from Antony and a brace from the in-form Marcus Rashford. 

Nottingham Forest and Wolves did battle at the City Ground this evening and the game ended 1-1, which meant that the game had to be decided on penalties. Dean Henderson was the Forest hero as he saved two penalties to help Steve Cooper’s side beat Wolves to confirm their breath in the semi-final.

United have good memories of playing against the Midlands side as they beat Forest 3-0 in the Premier League just after Christmas.

The game against will take place on the week commencing the 23rd January and the return leg will take place the week after the first leg has been played.

In the other semi-final, Newcastle and Southampton will take on each other for a place at Wembley after the Saints produced the shock result of the round as they beat Manchester City 2-0, whilst Newcastle booked their place in the last four after Eddie Howe’s side beat Leicester by the same scoreline at St James’ Park.
