United are “heading in the right direction” says United man

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire spoke to the club’s official media and he says that the team are “heading in the right direction”.

United are the only English team who are still left in all four competitions, and they have games coming thick and fast as they play Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium before a semi-final clash in the Carabao Cup away to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Wednesday.

United will go into those games into a positive frame of mind as they are currently unbeaten in 10 games in all competitions, and the United captain says that the results that United have had in recent weeks has brought about a positive atmosphere within the squad.

Maguire said that: “There is a great atmosphere within the camp, as everyone who is involved in football, knows that results matter, and it brings a good atmosphere when you are getting results. I think the performances have warranted the results. There is a good buzz around the place” [via Man Utd].

The United defender has not started every single match during the run that the team have been on, however, he does understand the importance of utilising the squad with Erik ten Hag’s side having an unrelenting fixture schedule.

“Yeah, I think our fixture list from now until the end of the season is relentless, not much break, not much rest in between games, so I am sure fresh legs will be used, and I think if you are going to be a successful squad, [then], it is so important to have competition for places in each position, and I think we have got that in this team now” [via Man Utd].

Maguire will be hoping to feature for United against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, which kicks off at 4.30pm UK time, and it is pivotal game for both sides.
