Transfer Speculation Links Manchester United With A Barcelona Defender

|

As we may have mentioned on one or two occasions in the past couple of days, here at Vital Manchester United we’re eagerly waiting to see who the club decides to sign once the January transfer window opens, in a few days.

Naturally, we’re aiming high looking for a couple of big-name players to bolster a side that has, once again, under-achieved this season.

But perhaps we shouldn’t discount the club surprising us by bringing in a relatively unknown player.

I’m basing this diagnosis on a snippet of transfer speculation that appeared in the Italian media source calciomercato which is reporting Manchester United have joined several other clubs in the race to sign a young centre-back who is currently on the books of the Catalan giants, Barcelona.

The youngster in question is 19-year-old Jean-Clair Tobido, a Frenchman who is struggling to get the game time he wants in La Liga.

However, although his first-team opportunities have been limited at the Camp Nou, it hasn’t deterred the likes of Monaco and AC Milan from also showing an interest in the player.

But when it comes to sealing any possible deal perhaps the biggest obstacle could be whether a move to Old Trafford would, in the short-term, improve the players’ chances of regular first-team football with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof currently the preferred options.

Personally, I fear not and I believe that this is a deal that will fall by the wayside.

But what are your feelings on this particular piece of transfer speculation?
