The Impact Of Wout Weghorst – Opinion

|

After Manchester United loaned in Wout Weghorst two weeks since then he has played three games and has offered United a lot upfront.

Coming back from loan off Besiktas in Turkey to Old Trafford where he watched United win the derby must have finalised Weghorst’s decision that it was a good move to come to the red side of Manchester to join fellow Dutchmen Erik Ten Hag.

In his first game against Crystal Palace, he did not get a lot of chances or the ball to express what he can possess for United on the pitch.

The next game he played was against rivals Arsenal where United lost 3-2, however, that proved what Weghorst offers to this United team that Anthony Martial cannot offer, which is better hold-up play and being able to press effectively from the front.

Helping United in both of the goals they scored at the Emirates, the first being able to link up play with the midfield in the build-up to the goal that Marcus Rashford put away and the second goal scored by Lisandro Martinez.

Where the six-foot-six striker was the main focus of defending the corner, hence why Martinez was so free to score his header. In the last game for the Red Devils where Ten Hag’s side won 3-0 at Nottingham Forest.

Weghorst scored his first goal after another impressive game linking up play yet again with Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Rashford which resulted in the two goals they scored in the first half.
