Speculation Relating To Defenders Future At Old Trafford Intensifies

|

A feature of the last two Manchester United games has been the presence of Matteo Darmian in the starting eleven.

Speculation relating to the 29-year-olds future has been prevalent in recent months and although he has played those last two games, I very much doubt whether he has a long-term future at the club.

That point is illustrated today by two pieces of speculation that have appeared in the press.

The first, courtesy of the Italian news source, Gazzetta, suggests that Inter Milan could make a move for the defender, either in the January transfer window or next summer. Our referenced source reminds us that Inter did, in fact, fail with a proposed loan bid for the defender last summer.

But, elsewhere, another Italian news source, Tuttomercato, is championing the suggestion that our opponents this weekend, Fulham, are also keen to sign Matteo.

However, our second source does infer that the player would prefer a move back to Italy.

Here at Vital Manchester United, we’ll try and keep abreast of the situation but our gut feeling is that Matteo is set for a return home after his time with us and if that happens we’d certainly wish him well.
