Rooney was not the only former Manchester United player to receive a prize as Zlatan Ibrahimovic also won an award at the Globe Soccer Awards.

Both players also had their faces on the famous Burj Khalifa, which is always a nice gesture.

Since signing from Everton as a teenager back in 2004, Rooney had an unbelievable Manchester United career as he became the club’s all-time record goalscorer with 253 goals and won 13 major trophies with the Reds during his highly accomplished 13 years at Old Trafford.

Rooney also played a vital role for England as he helped them regularly qualify for major tournaments and became his nation’s all time leading goalscorer.

Rooney took to social media to express his thanks at receiving the gong, “Thanks for a great night, Globe Soccer. Honour to win the career award.”

Ibrahimovic also won trophies during his time in Manchester as in his first season he won the League Cup and UEFA Europa League after signing for United back in 2016 under Jose Mourinho.

However, Ibrahimovic’s second season did not go to plan as he could only make five appearances in the Premier League [Transfermarkt.com]. Nevertheless, he is still showing his longevity as a footballer as last season he helped AC Milan win Serie A for the first time since the 2010//11 season.

The Milan striker is currently injured but hopes to be back playing soon, even at the remarkable age of 41.

Congratulations to both players on being recognised for their unbelievable football careers.
