Player ratings from Palace draw

|

Manchester United moved level on points after their frustrating 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night at Selhurst Park. In this article, we will give our ratings on how we think the United players performed during their Premier League encounter with the Eagles.

David de Gea – 7/10 – The United ‘keeper pulled off two good saves, including one remarkable finger tip save off Odsonne Édouard in the first half that looked like it was heading into the top corner. Whilst, he could not have done much about the free-kick that Palace scored, he could have prevented Palace from being awarded a dangerous free-kick because he should have safely passed it to Lisandro Martinez, instead of going long.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8/10 – The United right-back returned to familiar territory as he lined up against his former side and he put in another commanding display as he looked calm in possession and got forward. Produced a brilliant sliding tackle to prevent Wilfred Zaha from scoring a potential winner.

Raphael Varane – 7/10 – Varane was dominant in the air as Palace looked to go direct. Even though he gave the ball away once or twice, Varane was composed through the game and did his job.

Lisandro Martinez – 7/10 – His passes into midfield was a feature in South London, and he showed his toughness as he overcame an elbow to the head from Jean-Philippe Mateta in the first-half. Booked for a cynical foul on Michael Olise.

Luke Shaw – 6/10 – Was not his best performance, given how well he has performed in recent weeks but he offered United an option when they attacked from the left. However, gave the ball away a little too much for his liking in the first-half

Casemiro 7/10 – Put in another commanding display as he showed his importance to this United side. The Brazilian’s passing was good and his anticipation to avert danger was clear to see, however, he will be suspended for the game against Arsenal as he picked up a yellow card, which is a blow.

Christian Eriksen – 7/10 – The Dane passed and progressed the ball well in the first-half and he recorded his seventh assist of the season [Transfermarkt] as he set up Bruno Fernandes’s goal at the end of the first half. Dominated and dictated the game in the first-half but United struggled to get control in the second.

Antony – 7/10 – Had an extremely bright first-half as he was heavily involved. Could have scored from an audacious chip from the edge of the box, which would have been some goal had it gone in.

Bruno Fernandes – 7/10 – United’s captain on the night led by example as he put his side 1-0 up with a well-taken goal past Vicente Guaita in the Palace goal.

Marcus Rashford – 7/10 – Showed his directness as he looked to turn inside and get a shot away. He should be given credit for his quick thinking as his through ball played a role in Fernandes scoring.

Wout Weghorst – 7/10 – Considering he has only had three training sessions according to Samuel Luckhurst [MEN], I thought the Dutch striker peformed well on his first start in a Unites shirt as he link-up well with his team-mates and his run across the front-post helped create space for Fernandes to give United the lead.

Scott McTominay 5/10 – Should have had a penalty in the second half.

Fred 6/10 – Looked energetic and it was interesting that he was a bit deeper in the second half when he came on, which might be a sign of what ten Hag is thinking of doing on Sunday against Arsenal.

Alejandro Garnacho 5/10 – Could not really get in the game as United lost control in the second half.
